The Great Giveup of 09

The next thing on my giveup list is....

Yep, eating. I won't be eating anything in 2009! No, let's be serious. What I won't be doing is eating out. Now, I'm not giving this up cold turkey....this is more the great cutback of 09. I pick up food quite a bit, especially at lunch time. The new goal is to limit the eating out to two times a week. That's one time for lunch and one time for dinner per week! The lunch is going to be MUCH harder than the dinner. I better go stock up on lunch meat.

Say cheeeeeeeese!

The beautiful QVC order arrived yesterday and I am already in love! Just look at how beautiful it is....

We are NOT talking about me of course, but that beautiful camera that I'm holding in my shaky hands. Sorry for the blur, I was still pretty excited when I took this photo! I got the Canon Rebel XS and I can't wait to start snapping amazing pictures. I'm also signed up for a class on digital photography that starts on January 17th. It will teach me how to use the camera more and more importantly will teach me photoshop! I'm so excited I can hardly hold the camera still!

The Great Giveup!

I've decided to make a few changes in my life, and it just so happens to coincide with the first of the year. Some may call these resolutions, I will not because I am a non-conformist! Actually I just never stick to resolutions and some of the items in The Great Give Up will not be given up for the entire year. So, the first item that I will be giving up effective January 1.....

This one will be for the entire year. This is huge for me. If I make it, it will be a gigantic accomplishment. I'm actually going to do diet soda in general, not just limit it to diet DP, but if I just do the diet DP it will be amazing. So, starting January 1 I will try to be diet soda free. Wish me luck and stay tuned for more Great Giveup items!

Feed Bell!

If you haven't had a chance to make a recipe on Cowgirls and Cupcakes you are really missing out on something special! Kim and Debie post some delicious stuff on this site. I'm currently addicted to Mike and Deb's Beer Chili and am making it for the second time today. When you make this chili...make sure that you have people coming over because it makes a TON! You can feed an army with this recipe. The good thing is if you have leftovers you can portion it up, freeze it and always have some chili on hand. The other good thing is I get to break out my gigantic pot that I got for my wedding.

Trust me...this pot is huge! There's just something about cooking it in that lets you know there is some down home cooking about to happen!

The Blue Midgets

were rocking the house last night. With a new remote and a second guitar we almost have a full band. I'm truly amazed that we didn't break a guitar stick or suffer a broken guitar with "Gonads" crazy antics. If you have a Wii, and you don't have Guitar Hero World Tour yet...I highly suggest you get it. I've learned that GHWT+Friends+Case of Beer (or Sangria) = Wild time!

What does it mean......

when you receive THREE couch throw style blankets for Christmas? We have the electric blanket
the blanket that is so snuggly they have to use the word "snuggie" in the title....
and finally the luxuriously soft giraffe print blanket...
Umm, perhaps I spent too much time on the sofa in 2008!

Merry Christmas!

Hope Santa came down your chimney and brought you everything that you wanted!

Happy Dog

One of the biggest struggles in the house is keeping the dog's water bowl full. He drinks SOO much water each day so it seems we are always filling the bowl. That is, until this Christmas time. Whisky got a fun new water jug bowl so he can be certain to always have water. He also got a new dog dish that was supposed to slow his eating down. So, now instead of finishing his meal in 30 seconds he finishes in 40!

Because my computer is being ridiculous...you will have to tilt your head to look at this photo. Sorry!

Handmade Holiday

Now that I have finished my shopping I'm happy to say that I stuck with my handmade holiday goal. Over 50% of the gifts that I gave this year were either made by me or handmade by someone local. Now that gifts are in people's mitts we can start talking about a couple of my favorites.

For starters, everyone got something handmade by me. I decided that instead of wrapping gifts this year everyone would get their gift in a recycled t-shirt bag.

I got the idea from Martha and I have to say it was a blast! This might happen every year going forward. For starters we didn't have a ton of wrapping paper to throw out. It was also a blast trying to find t-shirts and matching them up to people's personalities. Super fun!

Another gift that I made this year was bird feeders.

These are made using stair rail posts and tea cup and saucer sets. This was a combined effort with the hubby and I because he was in charge of sanding down the posts to make sure they could be stuck in the ground. I know if I was a bird I would feel proud to eat out of one of these beauties!

Knit one, purl two, get finger cramp!

So the knitting has slowed down finally! My pre Christmas orders are all complete and now I just have a couple post Christmas items that don't have to be as rushed. Overall I'm super pleased with how everything came out and I can't wait to show you some pics of the new items that I made this season.
One would think that I wouldn't want to knit for a long time seeing how I just knit roughly 25 scarves and a hat in ohhh....two months! This is very true, until I saw this...

I have no idea who is going to wear it once I make it, but I will DEFINITELY be trying to figure out this pattern as soon as I can. Dude, it's a beard! So awesome!

Really QVC?

Well, I've done it again....I've shopped on QVC for Christmas. Last year it felt a little more acceptable since I was stuck on the sofa and couldn't drive anywhere. My excuse this year is simply Easy Pay! When you can make 5 payments with no interest AND get the item right away, it's just so enticing. Especially on the larger ticket purchases that would be hard to fork over the dough for all at once. The most recent purchase is what I would like to call a "family" Christmas present. Where family means I am going to use it all the time. I've even signed up for some classes to learn how to use it to its capacity! I know you have already figured out what it is, but the hubby knows nothing about it...and doesn't read the blog....so we'll just keep this between you and I. Oh, and please keep your fingers crossed that it arrives before Christmas.

Mr. Mc Sleepy

I know we've talked about Whisky's sleeping habits before, but sometimes he puts himself in a new position that just must be shared. Take this for example...

Tell me...how is that comfortable? He is absolutely crammed into my leg, thus giving him the maniacal Joker-esque smile. It kind of creeps me out, and also makes me want to snuggle up with him.

Santa Style

I am a strong believer that everyone needs to act like a complete goofball every once in a while. Everyone should let their freak flag fly, let their guard down and just have some fun. If you read the blog you should know that every once in a while happens quite often for me. For over a year now there has been this beard and moustache thing with my girlfriends and I. It all started at the wedding with fake moustaches and has sense carried over. We see something moustache and beard themed and we can't help but share it with eachother, and I can't help but laugh my arse off. My good friend RP keeps finding these websites where you can cut out a beard and stick it on your face. One of them donated money to a charity if you submitted a picture and the most recent one had a prize involved. Prize or no prize, it didn't take me long to start printing and cutting. With a little help from RP and Photoshop I think we have a prize winning photo....
For me it's prize winning cause I know right now you have fallen out of your chair with a belly full of laughter. That is the ultimate prize! I hope you all get your Santa Beard on as well!!

Crime Sweep

East Sac is stuck in a big crime ring right now. We are targets of package theft and cat burglars. Cat burglars who come in through open windows or unlocked doors while you are SLEEPING and steal your stuff and drink a couple beers. Yes, at a couple locations the cat burglars literally helped themselves to some libations and even food. Apparently it's hard out there for a thief! Needless to say the neighborhood is on lock down and my dreams are plagued of thieves coming in during the night. How does this happen? I mean do thieves sign up for the theft group newsletter and when a good neighborhood comes up they all get a text to go hit it? So crazy.

The package theft is obviously a big problem right now for those of us that do online shopping for Christmas...and for ourselves. What seems to be happening is someone is following the UPS and Fed Ex delivery trucks and as soon as Mr. Brown makes a drop off, the thief swoops in and takes the package. Who would do this.....well the answer is this fine lady.

This cigarette smoking, too tight mom jeans wearing bitch. Sorry for the profanity Grandma! See, the house behind us got really tired of the theft and so they installed a camera which caught this specimen in the act. This was then broadcast on almost every news station around. My hope is they caught her. My other hope is that I stay home one day and set her up and while she's on my porch stealing my box I hit her over the head with a baseball bat. No, it's the holidays and I am not one for violence. Instead I'll tie her up with my Christmas lights. Yep, that would be more seasonal.

Where have I been?!

I know that I am blog cheating right now. I'm sitting here on a Tuesday filling in the last three days that I missed in blog land. There is a good reason though for my blog tardiness. I am knitting. Knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting. I've made one knitted item per day and I still have two and a half to go.....until Christmas is over. Then I have about 4 more that have to be done after Christmas. I will never want to knit again. This weekend I made a ribbed tuck scarf that I really like the looks of.

What I didn't like the looks of is this picture of me modeling the tuck scarf. My face is so sad. My face shows how I am really feeling about all the knitting that I've gotten myself into. I thought to jazz it up a bit I would soften the edges and in the background you can just make out our lovely tree in the background. It's so very Olan Mills.

A new friend....

Recently I adopted a new pet.

"Wait," you are thinking. "Don't you mean new plant?"

Nope, cause see inside of that plant lives this little guy....

There in the bottom of the bowl you will see our new pet fish Ira. Ira was the office fish and I took him home for Thanksgiving in order to feed him pumpkin pie and smoked turkey. Instead of coming back to the office after Thanksgiving he ended up joining the family. He's now Ira Ball. Has a nice 1950's ring to it doesn't it? There is something spooky about this photo though. Ira came out completely black and if you look a little to his left you will notice an alien in there. Hopefully Ira does not get abducted!

Oh Christmas Tree....

This year was something special when it came to decorating the Christmas tree. No, we didn't get new ornaments. No, we didn't have any special lights. No, we didn't have a pink flocked tree. What was special is that I got to participate in decorating! See if you go back to last years Christmas tree post you will recall that I got to sit on the couch the whole time while Bill did all the holiday decorating. It was sad. It was hard to sit through. It was one of the many times that I wanted to jump up and run around the house spreading Christmas cheer. This year I got to do just that! Our tree came out even more beautiful. Well, actually it looks pretty much the same as last year, but we do have a new star on the top!

Sea of Yellow

Whenever Whisky gets really wound up, the solution is to take him to the doggy daycare. It's the ultimate romp around session and typically gives us a nice and mellow doggy at the end of the day. He absolutely loves it there, so it's a great treat for him as well. When I open the car door, I don't even have to put him on a leash, cause he runs straight for the daycare door. The fun part about daycare is loading the Doggy Cam to check in on what the dogs are doing. Usually I can spot Whisky in the line up of dogs, but yesterday it wasn't so easy. Apparently there is an outbreak of yellow labs at the daycare right now and I couldn't make Whisky out of the group.

I love this second picture where they all appear to be lined up in a row. The middle doggies are surrounded by yellow lab lovin!

Seriously?

In the evenings the hubby and I occasionally watch a show called "Attack of the Show." The best way to summarize it......sexy tech show. They show lots of gadgets, review movies, talk of gaming, etc. Occasionally they have this little segment about weird items that are released in Japan. I know Japan gives us some good stuff, but there is a whole world of items that we never see over here in the USA. Some of those items bum me out because I really want them to be sold here. Then there are others..........

Which make me thankful that I live in the US of A and hopeful that these beauties never cross any ocean. You can keep your bikini jeans Japan.

I get these...oooooooh, suspicions!

Last night the hubby and I went to Harlow's in Sac to check out a benefit concert for Chi from the Deftones. Part of the reason for going was seeing our friend Lare play and also to see Grady step on the stage after a long time away with his former band Willhaven. I actually have a video that will be replacing the picture later. I can sum it up for you in one word though.....LOUD! Holy snikes...if I got to anymore shows like that I'm going to be deaf at 40. I can't believe how many times I saw shows like that as a highschooler and stood right by the stage.
While at the show I was sitting by myself at a table when a couple came over to see if they could share the space. I said sure and immediately the girl sat next to me and started chatting away and snuggling in like we were long lost friends. Right away I felt like this girl and her boyfriend had ulterior motives. They were apparently laid over in Sac for the night and were seeing the sites. The questions started to fire, "Who was I here with, where was my husband (asked multiple times), could they buy me a drink." I also heard what a beautiful wedding ring I had, how cute my hat was, etc, etc. Once Bill got there it was how cute my husband was, what a cute couple we made. At this point I was really starting to get freaked out. So, I did the only thing I knew how to do. I walked away for a while. During this time Bill stayed behind. When I arrived back at the table the couple were pretty hot and heavy with each other. I sat down and for some reason grabbed my purse that was hanging between me and make out fest and moved it to the other side of me. I had finally come to a conclusion that this couple either wanted to sleep with us or steal from me.....and I wasn't having either. They left shortly after so I will never know. Once they were gone Bill confessed that he immediately thought they were up to something as well. Funny how sometimes you can pick up on something in just a matter of moments.

Knitting

While I was at IndieSac I noticed that one of the vendors had the cutest shirt on! A shirt that would be perfect for me. How awesome is that? I mean there is nothing more perfect than the balance between the wholesome act of knitting and the bad ass act of getting tattoos! The artist is Natalie Dee and it's worth checking out her site because she has tons of other adorable images on there!

Kickin It

I'm not a big put your dog in clothing type of person. I mean, I see little dogs with jackets or sweaters and I'm cool with it but have never really dressed my dogs up. I know, we saw Whisky in a devil costume but I only put it on him for the shot and then took it off. I just always feel like they look so humiliated. Hats on the other hand I looove putting on dogs. They never stay on long, but look soo cute. Maybe it's cause I like hats myself? Who knows. We do this to our newphew dogs up North but so far haven't been able to pull one off on Whisky. Until yesterday! You have to admit, Whisky looks adorable in my knit hat!!

And the winner is........

I know you have all been shaking in your boots with excitement for who is going to win the reindeer clothespin craft. Well my friends, it is time for an answer. Using my technical random draw a name out of a hat technology I have determined that the winner is Carol Browne!

Congrats Carol! I'm sure the folks up in Canada are going to make an extra special trip to your house to check out these beauties once they are on your mantle. I'll also include some extra fun holiday surprises in your package as promised. Then again, that damn customs form is known for making things not so surprising!

IndieSac!

Indie Sacramento was today and it was amazing! It is also now official that I will be knitting one item per day for the next 14-16 days. I had more custom orders at the show and aside from typing this blog post my hands are almost constantly knitting. That means, you will get blog posts about how knitting is going for the next 14-16 days...wooo hoo!

In addition, the scarfettes became famous today when they were shown on Good Day Sacramento! Yeah, I'm there too but we're just going to pretend that it is someone else telling you about it.

Needless to say the event was awesome, people came out by the hundreds and I pocketed some pretty good cash in my pre-blistered and cramping fingers! Thanks for all the support and we look forward to seeing you all next month.

Scarfettes are boomin!

Since the weather has gotten chilly the sales for the scarfettes have been AMAZING. I actually had to put a hold on anymore orders for fear that I am going to end up with curled up fingers by Christmas! What I decided to do instead...is sell the pattern online! So, now those of you who know how to knit can score yourself a pattern for just $5! This way, my fingers get saved and when you place your order the pattern is emailed to you within 24 hours vs waiting a week to get the scarfette. Happy ordering!

Crafting

I've been really trying to craft as much as I can lately. I'm still determined to make alot of my Christmas presents or at the very least buy handmade. I'm knitting like crazy with the scarfette sales on Etsy. It's not too late to order yours in time for the holidays! I've also been working on some new items using the sewing machine. The first thing I've been playing with is felting old wool sweaters. Probably the hardest part is finding nice wool sweaters at the thrift stores! I found a couple and took a shot at some mittens. They are very boring, but came out ok for a first try.

They need to be jazzed up for sure! They are even funnier looking when you take them off because they look like lobster claws. I really wanted more fitted mittens and apparently the sacrifice is ridiculous looking mittens when they aren't on your hands.

The second thing I've been really into are vintage ties. I tried making business card holders and FAILED MISERABLY! Man, I'm just not good enough to tackle that yet. So, then I moved onto wrist cuffs. I was much better at those!

I bought a HUGE case of ties on Ebay so I'll definitely be making more of these. I'd like to make some for the show this weekend, but feel like I have enough on my plate right now! Don't forget to come to IndieSac on Saturday where you can check out all my ridiculous lobster claw creations!

It's Advent Time!

As a kid I don't remember ever having an advent calendar. Oh, I'm sure I had the occasional little cardboard number with a nasty piece of chocolate inside. Now I know that was a pathetic version of an advent calendar. I learned this last year when I started checking out the blog of Carol Browne! Carol does an advent each year and it's hilarious! Hers is set up with a lego scene and little lego characters. This year is a beachy pirate scene so I can only imagine what is going to show up. Last year there was a bit of a bird issue so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for a sand crab infestation or something! Maybe a drunken pirate Santa?! All I know is when I have kids I will be sure that they have a kick ass advent. Thanks Carol for the month long holiday entertainment!!

It's a gem!

Every once in a while when I go to the thrift store I find something absolutely ridiculous that I just can't pass up. On a recent trip I was checking out the Christmas items and spotted this

There is nothing better than do it yourself Christmas decorations from 1981 that are still in their original packaging! Who does this?! I always rip into stuff right away. Not this person. They stuck it in a box somewhere and 27 years later decided it was time to get rid of it cause they just weren't ever going to get around to making this beauty. What makes it even better is the original price tag from GEMCO is still on it! For those that don't know GEMCO, it was kind of like a target only sucky and had groceries. This cost $1.08 back then, and in the past 27 years has gone down in value to a mere 69 cents. Man, my 401K has gone down in value more than that in the last three months!

Here is where it gets good. One of you lucky readers can win this item! Not only will you get this, but you will also get a special Christmas treat. Maybe a gift card, maybe a lump of coal...you will only really know if you enter. So help celebrate Christmas at PillsPlace by leaving a comment letting me know that you will make the reindeer ornaments and a winner will be chosen at random this Sunday, December 7th. I want to be sure you have enough time to make these and put them out for Christmas of course!

Hot Stuff

Each year Bill and I try to do something special in the garden in Davis. We've grown pickles and popcorn, but this year wanted to try something new. We went with horseradish! We planted it loooonnnnng ago, but this weekend it was finally time to harvest. Basically they are roots that you have to dig out of the ground. Once you have it the fun begins. First you have to peel the roots:
Once they are all peeled and clean you dice them up into manageable pieces. This is when things start to get a little hot in the air. See, what activates the heat in horseradish is dicing and chopping.
Once it's all chopped up you throw it in the food processor with a little water and blend it up. That's when you have to decide how hot you want it. To make it hotter...you just wait up to four minutes. At 4 minutes you apparently achieve maximum heat. After it sits for your selected time (we went with 4 minutes by the way!) you add in some white vinegar and salt and mix again. And voila...
you have horseradish! It really just ends up looking like diced up garlic, but trust me...you don't want to put your face anywhere near it. By the end of blending my nose and chest were so cleared out from the fumes I forgot that I had ever been sick! Can't wait to make a yummy pot roast and whip up some horseradish cream sauce to go on top of it!!

It's that time of year again...

time for me to fight off the ugly chest cold! I was lucky enough to not get it last year, instead I just dealt with a blood clot. This year, not so lucky. I got sick almost three weeks ago and last Sunday the cough started. By Thanksgiving I was coughing up lungs and feeling as if I'd been rapidly punched in the stomach. Yesterday I decided it was time to head to the doctor. I was given a breathing treatment and prescribed a couple inhalers and some cough medicine with codeine. One of the inhalers was the powdery stuff called Advair.

It works great and I finally feel like a can breath again. The bummer part is apparently my insurance feels that this medicine isn't worth covering so this month supply cost me $125. I now know that the cost of breathing precious air is just over $100. Thank goodness I only need a month supply or I might have to hold my breath a bit more.

Black Friday

For the first time ever I participated in Black Friday. Wendy and I decided that we had never done it before and both had a desire to go to Kohl's. We didn't have that big mapped out shop to shop trip plan, just Kohl's.....which opened at 4am! Here is what we looked like at 4am:Darn that Wendy had to go and put makeup on. I myself threw on a hat and that was about the extent of it! When we got to Kohl's there was a line outside.
The line actually went to the right quite a ways too, but we were not concerned. After the doors opened at 4 and we trampled a couple elderly getting inside we scored some really good deals! No, we didn't trample any elderly and I feel really angry at those that can't settle themselves down when going for a Black Friday shopping trip. All in all it was a fun experience and I'll probably never do it again. I did get some good deals though! I think it's called Black Friday cause it sure is dark out when you go shopping at 4am!

Gobble Gobble

It's been a good thanksgiving, delicious food and good company. Typically we would be in Olympia getting rowdy with Bill's family. This year we're at home and have a long quiet weekend. It's just not the same. Especially after we get pictures like this...

Is it a yam bird? We'll never know. We do know that turkey day just isn't the same without the Fudurichs, Weavers and Monthies.

Happy Thanksgiving!

You want me to smell where?

This past weekend I bought the People Magazine Sexiest Man issue. Come on...they are sexy and they are men, I just couldn't pass it up. The issue was definitely filled with all the obvious hotties, but then I got to a section that caught me off guard. That would be the Scratch and Sniff section! No kidding, there is a scratch and sniff section in the issue where the guy tells you what his favorite scent is and then you can scratch a certain area on the page and smell that scent for yourself. Scents range from grass, cologne and vanilla. It was funny and obscene all at the same time. All I have to say is thank goodness the Michael Phelp's page didn't say "The smell of my speedo after a swim." I'd love to see the women in the check stand smelling that portion of the page!

When life hands you lemons...

Sometimes something bad happens and it really sucks. It makes you angry and you stomp around and pout and wish that you could throw something. Then suddenly the new fridge arrives and you realize, "Hey, I really like this new fridge....thank you fridge gods for letting my old fridge crap out!"
OK, so maybe for you it isn't a fridge but you get where I'm coming from. The new fridge was installed yesterday and I absolutely love it! It has so much more space and I can actually see what is in the freezer. There is also water and ice on the outside. Here I thought it was a big deal when the hubby installed the ice maker. Now I not only have ice, but I have CRUSHED ice! Oh man, there is nothing better than crushed ice in a soda. I also really dig the black color. It definitely stands out and I find myself walking into the kitchen and thinking "Whoa, there's the fridge," but I think I'll get used to it. Now, if I could only feel the same about my camera as I do about my fridge. I guess perhaps I will once I get a new camera!

For the stud in your life!

I don't make many things for the men out there. Most of my crafts are of the girly nature. Well, that's all about to change right now! My physical therapist was intersted in a scarfette, but he hadn't actually seen one and I just felt they were a bit too feminine. So, I decided to do a modified masculine version.

I proudly introduce you to the "studette:"

Ok, it's really just a cowl but when you give something it's own name it makes it feel so much more special. I used this great grey tweed looking yarn and made a second one in a brown tweed, which my physical therapist quickly bought up. I've added these to Etsy so if there is a stud in your life that needs a studette for Christmas don't forget to buy from me! I have a feeling I'll be making one of these for myself soon.

Shucks!

Well, the turkey festivities went off without a hitch. The food was excellent if I do say so myself. I have firmly decided that any recipe you find on the Pioneer Woman will make people want to give you hugs and tell you how wonderful you are. The pecan pie was heavenly and one of Bill's friends literally ate half of the pie! It was just all delicious and went off perfectly. As for the rest of the weekend I can't so that went as smoothly. It started with a busted camera. I dropped my camera in the kitchen while trying to take pictures of delicious pies, but my fingers were probably too covered in butter. The lense was out and when the camera hit the floor the lense popped off. I tried taking it in and was told it would cost more to repair than it would to get a new camera. So, now I need to add a camera to my Christmas list. Anyone have any good recommendations for a good digi??

The weekend ended with a busted fridge! Why things have to go from perfect pies to busted refrigerators is beyond me. Out we headed on Sunday to shop for a new fridge. We decided on this sub zero one:

Hahahahah! Yeah right! This thing probably costs as much as my car AND would take up at least a third of my kitchen. The only chances of me ever scoring something like this would be to be given it on Oprah's Favorite Things show and the chances of that are slim! We actually went with a nice side by side fridge/freezer in black. We thought the black would make it look more classy. Actually we went with the black because it was the one that was on sale! It is bigger than our current non working fridge and has an ice maker AND a water dispenser. We're really moving up in the world.

Smokin!

This evening we are having our annual turkey party. Basically it's a pre-thanksgiving with our friends. This party got out of hand for a while and was up to over 40 people. This can be good, because you see that you have alot of friends...but it can be bad when you live in a small home in East Sacramento. So, we slimmed it down this year and have just about a dozen of our peeps coming over. For this evenings menu I will be making: stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and wild rice casserole, whisky glazed carrots, pecan pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake. I couldn't decided on a dessert so I went with four instead. Bill will be working on the smoked turkey. Ahhhhh, there is nothing liked smoked turkey!

Going doooowwwwwnnn.....

I had my final, hopefully, orthopedic surgeon appointment yesterday. I finally got the full release and was basically told that the knee looks good and is just going to have to run it's course. The ortho doesn't need to see me again unless I do more damage to it later. Let's all cross our fingers that never happens! The ortho did want to know what I have trouble with still. Probably the biggest thing is stairs. Going up is not too bad, but going down is no fun. I have to take it stair by stair which takes forever and makes me feel awkward. The ortho said, "Well, hopefully you don't have to deal with too many stairs!" This was apparently his way of cursing me. Kind of like when someone says "Break a leg!" and you do break your leg.

I got to the office after my appointment and settled into work. Not an hour later the fire alarm went off. There was one of those practice things where people sport those ridiculous orange vests and everyone mingles in the parking lot. This wouldn't be a big deal except I work on the 6th floor...the top floor of the building. Thank god I didn't try to wear heels yesterday or I would have been going down all six flights on my ass!
