Holy Harry Potter

Wendy is a big Harry Potter fan so I have seen the movies. It's been interesting to watch the characters in the movie grow up since they have kept the cast the same. Then I saw this. I'd like to introduce you to Harry Potter the boy:

I finally reached my new every two phone upgrade from Verizon Wireless! I decided to go with the new Verizon LG enV. It's not as cute as the Razor or the Chocolate, but I really wanted a phone I could text easily with and would take decent pictures. It has a nice little keyboard and a 2.0 megapixel camera...perfect! Compared to what I was using before this phone is DELUXE! In just 2-5 business days it will be mine.

RIP George

A very unfortunate event happened at Donner Lake this weekend. Friday morning a man named George was ice skating on the lake and fell through the ice and drowned. This was directly outside our balcony so alot of our weekend was spent watching the search and rescue. They finally found George on Saturday late afternoon. Such a sad event and definitely makes me even more certain that I will ONLY ice skate on ice skating rinks. Rest in Peace George.

Squirrel Part 3

I just had to post this. We went to a cabin at Donner Lake this weekend and low and behold there mounted on the fireplace was a stuffed squirrel. It made me feel really bad! Was this one of my squash eating neighbors?! Poor squirrel.

Squirrel Update

Due to the squash feedings, the squirrels in the neighborhood have gotten out of hand. The neighbor put another pumpkin in her tree last week, which is half eaten already. We've always had squirrels in the neighborhood but now there are more squirrels than neighbors. I caught one in the act of munching on the pumpkin. It's quite cute actually. I'm not sure Louie agrees seeing how he is now getting harassed in his own backyard. I saw a dog shirt at Target that said "Squirrels, they're not just for breakfast anymore." Louie would have worn that with pride, but it only came in toy dog sizes. Damn toy dogs and squirrels!

Stiiiiiiinky!!!

This morning I had an unpleasant surprise when I went into the garage. The worst skunk smell!! We've never had a problem with skunks, squirrels, but not skunks. The garage was closed, so the spraying didn't happen in there but it definitely happened close to the house. Bill can't smell the scent of skunk (weird I know) so he was no help at all determining where it was coming from. I finally gave up.

Unfortunately when I came home from work the smell is now in the house! Ick! Now I'm afraid the skunk sprayed under the house. Hopefully it wears off soon!

Stomp The Yard

Frances and I went and saw "Stomp the Yard" last night. The dancing in this movie is amazing and really makes the movie. The subject line has been done, but watching them dance just blows you away. Here's a little clip that shows some of the moves. I especially liked the guy that leaps through the air, lands on his back, bounces back up and keeps repeating this in a circular motion. You'll see it in the clip!

How cute I would be...

I have a tendancy when I'm telling a story to tell a different story in order to tell my original story. This is something that my mom has perfected, only she has figured out how to weave multiple stories into her single story mission. It's amazing, so here I go...

I started looking at blogs about two years ago. My friend Rebecca told me about the world of blogging and sent me a couple sites to check out. Only one I have continued to look at almost every day. That is www.ljcfyi.com. Jenny lives in Rochester and is a designer for Kodak. She's an incredibly crafty person and is always involved or visiting something new. It's weird how many things I could tell you about her, but when you've been looking at someones blog for a couple years it's amazing what you learn. I highly recommend that everyone checks her blog out, it's one of the best out there in my opinion.

This leads to my current post. Jenny had a posting about designing your own M&M character. I checked it out myself and I think I would make a cute M&M!

Crawford's Barn

The location for the wedding has been set. We're getting married on October 13th at a place in Sacramento called Crawford's Barn. It's exactly what I was looking for and Bill really liked it too! It's nice and cozy for a small intimate and casual wedding. Can't wait to figure out all the other details!

Soulful Sundae Cone

I'm a huge fan of the Dryers Grand Light Slow Churned ice cream. My biggest complaint is that there are not enough flavors. Then the unexpected happened. Dryers has apparently teamed up with American Idol and released 4 "American Idol" flavors. You can go online and vote for your favorite flavor and Dryers will add it to their line up. My favorite is the Soulful Sundae Cone, although I can't say I have tried them all. Try some yourself and go online and vote for your favorite. The last comment I have to make is what is the deal with "Edys?" Over here in sunny California we call this ice cream "Dryers." Why does it have to have two persona's? That's very suspicious!

The Ring

Nope, I'm not talking about the scary movie! I'm talking about the fantastic piece of jewelry that I now wear on my left hand thanks to Bill. Most of the family hasn't seen this since everyone moved away from me...so here it is!

It's so hard to portray it in a picture, but after a dozen pictures I just had to stop. The top portion is about the size of a dime. There is a center diamond and 10 diamonds surrounding it. It also sits raised on a cut out pedestal. Gorgeous! Click below to see more pictures on my flickr site!!

I finally picked up the Amy Sedaris book, "I Like You, Hospitality Under the Influence." So far it is HILARIOUS! Anyone that has thrown any type of gathering should buy and read this book. Her tips are quite funny. Thanks for the Borders gift card Adam!!

Happy Birthday to Me

Well, now I'm really into my 30's. Man I remember watching Thirty Something and thinking those people were old! Oh well, like wine, I'm only going to get better with time!

They're after me Lucky Charms!

I have a weird affliction that I have hung onto since my childhood. I still love Lucky Charms. About once a year I break down and buy myself a box. Each year I am noticing a change in Lucky Charms. The marshmallow to frosted oat ratio is getting higher and higher. As a kid there just wasn't as many mellows in there! Now at least half of what is on your spoon is marshmallows. In a sense I understand why they are doing it. As a kid it was always a bummer when you got halfway through your cereal and your marshmallows were gone. On the other hand, you really learned to appreciate those marshmallows. Now the children of today will be taking marshmallows for granted.

What's the world coming to, and who knew I would have such a deep moment during my breakfast of Lucky Charms?

On my Christmas list, oh wait...it's over!

I've been REALLY wanting a beach cruiser style bike for a while now. We had one to raffle off at the party on Saturday and I was super sad that I didn't win. It was extremely dissappointing. On the other hand I just found out that Electra bikes issued a new model this year. It's called the Electra Amsterdam! One look at it and I'm in love!

The Squirrels

We have a TON of squirrels in our neighborhood. Actually to say we have a ton is a huge understatement. Our neighbors across the street put this giant pumpkin in their tree after Halloween and they have eaten almost the entire thing. Bill and I like watching them so we decided to test out our own squash experiment. We put three butternut squashes in our backyard tree and the next day there were only two left which you can see knocked on the ground here. By the end of the weekend they were gone. Watching squirrels eat squash is fun!

Winter Party 2007

Our annual work "Christmas" party was tonight. We can't really call it a Christmas party since it's in January and to keep everything PC for those that don't celebrate Christmas.

Overall it was a huge success! The most important piece was the photo booth that we rented. It was like the kind you could do at movie theatres and state fairs, but it was color. I highly recommend everyone adds one to their party!

The batch of corn!

Here is the final crop of 2006. We still have to put it in jars but we figure it's over 10lbs at the very least. It's going to fill alot of jars!!! Hope everyone has their popcorn poppers ready!

Just saw a new Jay Z video this morning, in case you didn't know I love to watch videos in the morning. In this video Jay Z is driving one of the slickest looking cars (of course.) I did a little research and this car is a model off a car that was made during WWII. Only one was made at that time and it was stolen. They recreated only one again. Needless to say I want it! I'm thinking though that if they will only let Jay Z borrow it for a video, I don't stand a chance!!

We're Engaged!!

The family has all been told and now it's time to share with the worldwide web! While Bill and I were in Leavenworth, Washington we got engaged. It took me by surprise and I can't even begin to say how excited I am! Not sure when the wedding will be, but stay tuned for many a wedding planning post to come.

Christmas Crafts

This year I decided it was time to put my crafting hat on and make some gifts. My task was to complete some teacup candles and some rings. For the teacup candles I picked up random teacups at the thrift stores and then bought candle wax at Joanns. I simply followed the directions on the candle wax box to make the candles. I colored mine a pink shade and scented them with lavendar. They came out good!

My favorite crafts were the rings. I browsed antique stores and gathered some antique buttons. The backs were modified and they were glued to ring blanks. These were SUPER easy to make and they were a hit! I will definitely be make more of these. I heart Steve Carell

I saw "Little Miss Sunshine" over the weekend and I loved it. I kind of found it to be a more modern day twisted dark version of "National Lampoons Family Vacation." I have to say I love Steve Carell. I first laughed uncontrollably at him in "Bruce Almighty" and became a huge fan in "Fourty Year Old Virgin" and I just keep liking him more and more. He is absolutely hilarious! You should definitely check out this movie if you haven't seen it already.

20 Questions

I got this game for Christmas called 20 Questions. It's this round ball and you have to think of something and it will guess it in 20 questions. So far I have stumped it three times!! It's kind of annoying because in a way you really want it to guess what you are thinking so you can sit back and think, "Wow..it knew what I was thinking!"

Is yarn, a house and a soda really that hard to guess??

Shoe Mit?

Can someone please explain to me the purpose of the shoe mitt that you always find in the free hotel toiletries? I just don't understand! Is this in case I step in poo and want to protect my clothing? What happened to the use full sewing kit of yester-year?

UNO Attack

This commercial has been on for a while and I find it hilarious. Seems that more people are catching onto the fact that it just doesn't sound like "eights" but something far more grave!! I'm not playing this game!

My resolution.....

I only have one New Years resolution this year. I really don't make them too often, and even more rarely stick to them but this year I'm going to give it my all. My resolution this year is to spend less money. I really shop a bit to much and buy this and that. All things I really don't need. Maybe if I'll turn this into my very own "Bridget Jones-esque" blog and post my spendings on a weekly basis. Wouldn't that be exciting for all you readers out there??!!
