A year in review....

Well, we are nearing the end of 2007. Was it a good year? I can't really say that it was. It started off good with the engagement. Throughout the remaining months it has it's ups and downs and then fell hard in October. Overall I'm going to have to call 2007 a mediocre year. Not only did I finish the year off bad, but in general it feels like it had a bad vibe. A lot of people had a bad go of it for 2007. Now 2008 is on the way so there is always going to be talk of resolutions. I rarely make them because I rarely keep them, but I decided to make myself a resolution list. So, here are my resolutions for 2008.

1. Walk

2. Once walking, stop taking advantage of my body. I can't even call this resolution eat better and lose weight. I feel like it's more than that. I want to do more, get out more, walk around more. Not being able to walk really makes you realize how much you take something for granted!!

3. Keep on the non-frivilous path! My shopping habit has become a thing of the past for the first time in my life. I have no desire to shop, and when I do see something I like I really think about it before I buy....and 99% of the time I end up not buying! It feels really good. It feels good to balance a checkbook, to pay bills first, to have money left over at the end. I want to keep feeling that.

That about sums it up for now! I'm sure there are a million more things I could do, but just one little step at a time for now. Hope everyone else makes some resolutions that they can stick to.

I love mail!

More good stuff in the mail! I got my Aflac check!!! Years and years ago I signed up for a short term disability policy with Aflac. It was shortly after my shoulder surgery and I thought it might be good to have. Boy, am I glad that I signed up for it. With disability you just don't get that much. I mean it's good, but it's definitely not a regular paycheck. With Aflac it balances stuff out. Only thing that would have made it better would be if the duck showed up at the door to deliver it to me!!

It's exactly what I wanted!!

My Mom did a little shopping off my Amazon wish list for Christmas. I really thing this is the BEST way to go when gifting. In fact, I think everyone should just have a wish list. If you put enough on it things actually end up being a surprise when you get them. Each day a little something has come in the mail for me! It's a little Christmas extension which is super fun. So far, everything has been exactly what I wanted too...imagine that!

Thanks Mommy D!

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Many years ago I became a member of Netflix. It was back when there wasn't any advertisement and most people still went to the video store. A couple years ago I made a change and switched to Blockbuster online. The main motive..it was $1 cheaper. It also allowed me some free rentals in the store and eventually lead to being able to exchange mail movies in the store. A couple of days ago I got a notice in the mail that the rates at Blockbuster would be going up, $3. This means that it is now $2 more than Netflix. Too bad for Blockbuster because I'm going back to Netflix. I read an article that Blockbuster is only raising fees for "some" of their members. Why the heck did they choose me? Oh well! So long Blockbuster!

How much is that doggie in the window?

I've really been thinking alot about a dog lately. Part of it is sitting at home everyday by myself and wishing that I had a companion. I think Bill and I are pretty certain that our next dog will be a bloodhound. We've talked in the past about them and I started doing some research and really like this dog. We'll start out with a puppy this time around. Although it is super nice having a dog that is already trained, it will be even nicer to be able to raise a dog ourselves. We had some problems with Louie when it involved other dogs and kids so I want to make sure that doesn't happen this time around. Plus, I know puppies are cute...but when it looks like this how can you pass up that chance??

This could make me cook more!

I got the cutest Christmas gift from Kristi last week. It's an awesome fish print apron from Anthropologie. I never wear aprons when I cook and I always get stuff all over me. Now that I have this amazing apron I will be wearing aprons when I heat up microwave meals!!! Thanks Kristi!

Prayers

I got something in the mail this week that was super exciting and touching. Apparently my Grandma in Texas (hi Grandma!) put me on a prayer list at her church. They sent me a card in the mail that had signatures of all the people that are praying for me to get better. I thought that was sooo cool! It's nice to know that people care and are rooting for me to get better.

Thanks for the prayers!

Thank you, thank you!

This will probably be the first time ever, but I have to give BIG thanks to California State Disability Insurance. Before I applied I heard nothing but horror stories about how long it was going to get checks and how little they would be. I figured that my first check would come in sometime in January. Low and behold...it got here on Wednesday!! That means that it took them less than one week to process my paperwork and get the check in the mail to me. Not only that, but it was a tad more than I had projected. That ROCKS!!!

Should I build an ark?

Ok, so let's just start by saying that in Sacramento we haven't had much rain. This week was to be our first real rain. This was not just any rain, according to the news, this was going to be a deluge! In fact it was such a deluge that on Tuesday the news stayed on for an extra 3 hours just to talk about rain. From the time I got up at 7am until 1pm it was nothing but talk about the rain. There was so much talk about rain I was tempted to get my rain coat and rain boots out and wear them on the sofa just in case. This is why I HATE the news! It literally drizzled all day and then was OVER. Totally ridiculous! Good thing I'm on crutches or I would have been in the backyard making an ark out of fence posts just to be prepared.

Paranormal State

I watched the show Paranormal State the other day because I like shows about ghosts and stuff and most of the Ghost Hunter's shows are reruns. I'm not sure how I feel about the show yet, but I'll definitely give it another shot. One thing that I thought was weird is they talk about what they call Dead Time or the Anti-hour. This is basically the theory that at 3-4am there are heavier chances of paranormal activity. Why this struck me weird is because for the last couple weeks I always wake up at night around 3am and struggle to get back to sleep. Now it's worse because I look around and listen for weird things!! I definitely believe in spirits and will always stand by my belief that there was something in the guest bedroom at my Mom's house. Luckily over the years that spirit friend became very tranquil and I think was happy to live with my Mom.

More snugglers...

Wendy and Becki came over tonight for some grub and some movie and Wheezie and Bowser came along as well. I had some delicious Jimboys: thank you Wendy! I also saw a great movie called "Once": thank you Becki! I also got to see Bowser chill out on the sofa which made me laugh my arse off! What a good night!

Knee Update

I realize it has been a while since I did a knee update so here we go. I had a meeting with the Ortho again and it was discovered that the fracture has COMPLETELY disappeared. This was such good news. I still have to stay off the leg for about another month and will hopefully be able to start putting weight on it sometime at the end of January. The meniscus tear is still there and I have been scheduled for surgery on the 25th of January to take care of it. The doctor feels it will then take me a full month to recover and get my leg working correctly again since it has been so long since the injury. This means I'm estimated to be off work till March 1st. That just seems so weird. I haven't been off work this long since high school and that was probably when I didn't have a job!
As for the blood clot, it is still there but my blood has been in the theraputic level for a while now so I haven't had to give myself any shots for a long time AND I only have to do lab work once a week. The treatment for the clot will also continue till sometime in March, but they will have to take me off the anti-coagulators a week before the surgery so they can do the surgery. Then I will start taking it again after the surgery.

So, there is my health in a nutshell! I'm going to need alot of physical therapy after all this and may even have to invest in a how to book or two.

Monday, December 17, 2007

Hell no, we won't go!!!

Sitting at home everyday is painful, which I'm sure I've shared with you before. It's not that I'm in pain from the knee...it's more pain from boredom. One thing that I did have going for me was DVR. In the evenings I would record all my favorite shows so I could watch them the next day. Slowly over the last month the shows have been dropping like flies. Since the writers strike is going on there are no new episodes and at this point all the shows I like are showing reruns. That is, except for all the ridiculous reality tv shows. Now, don't get my wrong, I like myself some Amazing Race. On the other hand Clash of the Choirs?! Please please, settle the writers strike soon so people like me will have something to watch!!

Just a Pickle

I was watching a Christmas themed show and learned that in Germany you will almost always find a pickle ornament on the Christmas trees because it is considered good look. Well, in the Ball household you will also find a pickle on the tree. I'd have to say though that our motive has more to do with delicious saltiness....but I'll take the good luck!

Saturday, December 15, 2007

I'm Done!

So in all of my sitting around on the sofa, I have managed to COMPLETE my Christmas shopping. I went really light this year, but between the internet and one other gem I was able to get it all done. What is the other gem you ask? None other than ........

I know, I know. On the other hand there is some great stuff with great deals on the show! I do have to put it in mute though because the cheesy commentary could really drive someone insane. Plus there was something about the fact that when they went to "the phones" to talk to customers it was always people buying for their grandkids that got to me! Put on some good tunes and put the tv on mute and QVC rocks!

Snuggle Muffins

Bill and I watched Becki's dogs this week and let me tell you....these dogs LOVE to snuggle. Not just snuggle, they like to be under the blankets as well. It was fun and nice to have some daytime comfy. I think I need a bigger couch though if they come again. Bill also quickly nicknamed the dogs. Hazel and Jasper are now known as Wheezie and Bowser!

Oh Christmas Tree....

Bill went up to Redding with the family last weekend and brought us home a beautiful tree! He also came home and decorated it beautifully. It was hard to just sit on the couch and try to advise where to put ornaments and lights, but overall it is nice to have a tree and I'm super thankful to Bill to put it all together. Now we just need to get some presents under it. That's going to be the hard part!!

Skagway Police Blotter

My niece (that was fun to say!) Carey works in Skagway, Alaska each year during the summer. While we were at her house for Thanksgiving I was reading a local Skagway paper that she brought home. The paper has a section called "Skagway Police Blotter" which is basically little stories of things that were called into the police. You have your typical calls: loud parties, accidents, stolen/missing things.....but then you have classic stories that only a small town can give you! Here are a couple classics for your reading enjoyment.

-Officers reponded to a report of someone screaming in the Long Bay area. A group of women were contacted. They had decided to take a swim and discovered that water was extremely cold, which made them scream.
-Fire personnel responded to a fire alarm. It was determined to have been set off by cooking.
-A woman called and expressed concern about her son, who is working in town this summer.
She had been talking to him on the phone and was disconnected. She had been trying to reach him again with no luck. The son was contacted and he said his cell phone battery died. His mother was contacted and advised.
-A woman reported that her 86 year old husband was missing. She was shopping and he did not want to shop. She left him sitting on a bench on Broadway while she shopped. When she returned he was gone. He was located on a bench in front of the AB Hall where he had been sitting for 2 hours or more. His wife was mistaken about the location of the bench she left him on.
-A complaint of people drinking alcohol at a picnic table downtown was received. An officer responded and found some men sitting at the table drinking Coca Cola.
-Report that a woman got up in the morning and found a strange man in her house. Turned out man though he had gone to his employer's house.**Reminder: you should lock your doors at night.

I now hate commercials!

When you watch tv you start to pick out commercials that drive you nuts. These are typically commercials that get played over and over again and no matter where you turn, there it is again The commercial I would be speaking of is the damn holiday Old Navy commercials. The commercial annoys me and the song REALLY annoys me! I can't stand the voice and unfortunately it keeps playing and playing and playing in my head and on tv over and over again. If you haven't heard enough of it, just keep playing it through the blog and hopefully you will get a feel for what a day in the life of myself is right now. I'm not shopping at Old Navy, that's for damn sure!!

Secret Gifter!

I came home today after spending some time out in Davis and discovered a gift on the porch. There was no card or note, only a gift bag! This was quite exciting for sure! When I opened it there is a set of adorable gnome tealights. These will NEVER get lit as they are much too cute to be set on fire. I love gnomes and the thought of watching them melt away is barbaric! I wonder who my secret gifter is?????

Fun with wish list.

I had some fun today updating my Amazon wishlist. Amazon is great because I think anything you could possibly want is on there! I added a whole bunch of stuff in the spirit of the holidays. I really really want this cake pan the most. I've seen it on many sites and was reminded when browsing Amazon. I want a giant cupcake right now actually.

On another note I got some good news today. My blood has been in theraputic range for two days now. That means I don't have to do the Lovenox shots and I don't have to go and have blood drawn until Tuesday! What a break that is going to be. It's a good thing the shots are ending because I'm definitely noticing a change now that my blood is theraputic. I bruise like CRAZY! I have big ugly bruises on my tummy from the shots but it doesn't stop there. I lightly bumped my hip the other day and my elbow today and there is a nasty bruise in it's place. Also the veins going down my arms look soooo blue. Very weird!

ProTime

Not to be confused with Hammer Time! Each day I go to the lab to have blood drawn so they can check my protime level. This is basically an indicator at how fast or slow the blood is clotting. The goal has been to get to between 2 and 3, and today it finally hit 2.4!!! So happy for that. Now, it just has to stay there in the range for a while. Then I won't have to go and get blood drawn everday and won't have to give myself shots in the stomach. Getting blood drawn has been a bummer, although I have to give the lab kudos cause they do a good job. I wish that they had this little device though. It's basically a way to check your protime levels with just a finger prick! That would be SSOOOOOO nice.

Two years ago....

I started knitting a scarf. It was kind of a joke gift, and now that the joke is over...the scarf is finished! Joke just doesn't seem so funny anymore. Guess I'll move onto the next knitted item.

Bring on the excitement.

Things in my life have taken on a whole new perspective in the past few weeks. Sitting on the couch and being really laid up is just such an eye opening experience. One of the bummers right now is all the needles. Right now, I'm still giving myself two shots a day and then also have to go and give blood each day to check the protone levels. We're shotting for the level to read between 2-3. Yesterday it read at 1.8 so I'm ALMOST there. The other day a pharmacy brought me another prescription of Lovenox. I was super excited because they also included alcohol wipes and a needle safety box. You know your life has changed when these things bring you excitement!!

Go Elf Yourself!!!

I got sent a super cute elf gram from my friend Amy and I had to try it myself. I don't know why, but it makes me laugh my ass off. Maybe it's cause I sit on a couch all day watching daytime tv?!

While sitting on the sofa....

Since I've stopped taking some of the pain meds I have started to think of what I can do while sitting on the sofa. Trying to create myself a "To Do" list of sorts! So far I have three things...

1. Finish knitting scarf that I started two years ago.

2. Send out Thank You cards for the wedding gifts.

3. Send out Christmas cards.

I'm going to have to space these things out though because the only thing that will take a while is the scarf. I flipped on Martha Stewart yesterday and there was a lady on there knitting these adorable animal backpacks for kids. I now have to add this to my list of things to make. They have the pattern for the Eli the Owl backpack on Martha and it doesn't seem to hard. I might have to make the arm straps longer though so I can carry it myself. When on crutches, one is in need of a cute owl backpack don't you think??

Thank you Safeway

One thing that is hard to do now is grocery shop. That's just one thing, if I had to list all things we'd be here all day!! Bill is not a grocery store lover so I had an epiphany the other day that I should have Safeway deliver our groceries. I knew that they had this feature, but have never tried it before. The first delivery is free so you can't beat that. They brought the groceries today and it could have only gone better if they would have put them away too! Instead it involved me and a dining room chair, but we can talk about that later. Those of you that hate shopping and have a Safeway I HIGHLY recommend giving the Safeway delivery a try.

I miss Target

One of the hardest places not to shop in my month of not shopping is at Target. I really like Target and miss my trips there. The withdrawal has been going ok and I no longer get the shakes when I see red circles, but that all changed today. Why? Cause the WONDERFUL Target catalog showed up in the mail! Have you seen this thing?! It's as nice if not nicer than the Nordstrom catalog. Now I feel an aching for Target deep in my calves....or maybe that's just the clot!

Don't Give Up!

Ok, I've decided that I cannot give up on the blog. Although I'm not sure what I'm going to have to blog about, I'm going to give it my all to keep it going. I've been doing it too long to let a silly break, tear and clot stop me! So today I will start with showing you a pair of salt and pepper shakers that I want to add to my collection.

They are called Dancing Shakers. Apparently they wobble and look like they are dancing. It reminds me of a Weeble Wobble..."Weeble Wobbles wobble, but they don't fall down!" I'm alot like a Weeble Wobble right now, only I can definitely fall down!!

A girl then walks into the ER......

Just when you thought the blog posts might be uplifting....you are wrong! Let's start by saying that I had a really good time in Washington and I'm soo very happy that we went to see the family for turkey day. Unfortunately as the week went by the leg pain increased, by Monday morning I was in excruciating pain and decided I needed to go into the hospital. Turns out, I developed a blog clot in my calf. I now have to give myself a shot in the stomach two times a day. It isn't so bad really, except for the fact that one of them has to be at midnight...ick! I'm now home and see my regular doctor tomorrow to figure out what happens now.

So, this blog posting is the first time that I have just left days blank and won't be putting a picture. I'm going to try and blog as much as I can but since I have to sit at home I'm not sure how much I'm going to have to say. I guess I'll do a lot of TV and movie reviews! Keep checking the blog, don't give up on me yet and wish me luck again that things don't get any worse.

Stoke up the fireplace!

Cause I'm going to be doing alot of sitting in front of it! Bill and I are on our way up to Washington for Thanksgiving. Should be good times and should be alot of sitting around for me. Luckily the Fudurich household is always full of people that can help get things for me. Also Lorrie makes AMAZING margaritas so it's a good chance that I could keep a steady buzz the whole five days while sitting on the couch. No, that's not true but I'm sure there will be moments. Weaver mimosas in the morning, Lorrie margaritas in the afternoon and a mean Thanksgiving of Dave's stuffing and smoked bird. DELISH!

I'm going off roading!!!

Crutches suck! That is what I have learned in the past month and it became even more apparent in the past week. Everyone kept joking that I needed to get myself a Lark and now I have to saw...it doesn't sound so bad! I was on craigslist looking for crutches and other handicap stuff and I came across this fine piece of machinery.
How awesome is that? It's known as an extreme wheelchair! It goes off road on trails, mud, snow and will climb curbs. Too bad I don't have an extra couple grand lying around or I'd be driving up to Cool to pick this puppy up. I also need to confess to something. Tonight I went to the grocery store and opted to use the electric shopping cart! Those might look really funny and something you'd like to use when you are stumbling into the Safeway drunk to replenish drink and munchies. On the other hand when you are completely sober and the grocery store is filled with pre-Thanksgiving shoppers you look and feel like an ASS!!

I'd like to introduce you to......

this awful picture, um I mean, my new bangs! Thanks to all that voted, everyone was for the bangs so hopefully I'll be able to pull them off. If not, I'll just pull them back! I do like them and I also like the new hair color. I did go a bit darker than I was. I'm not going to be able to get around much to update the hair so I figured I'd try to go with a color that didn't need as much up keep as the blond.

A girl walks into a Dr.....

and leaves being told that she shouldn't walk! Today was the Orthopedic Surgeon appointment and it wasn't the greatest. First let's start with some good information. There is no tear in the ACL! Wooo hooo! Also, we aren't doing surgery......yet anyways. Right now the Orthopedic Surgeon is most worried about the tibial plateau fracture. These are apparently extremely hard to heal because the Femur puts alot of pressure on it. What this means is I cannot put ANY weight on my leg now. No more trying to limp around, no cane, no putting the foot on the ground. I go back in three weeks to have another xray to see if it is healing. If not, possibly another three weeks. These can take up to three months to heal and that means three months of no weight on the leg and always on crutches. If it doesn't heal itself it will mean a possible surgery to fix it. In addition there will also be an eventual surgery to fix the meniscus that is torn but for now they are going to leave that alone. It would not be good to fix it now when the joint is so traumatized. So, there you have it. Overall I would have to summarize my feelings as...scared. I'm sad, overwhelmed and scared that they will have to do surgery to fix the fracture. For now I'll just keep plugging along on my crutches and pray that it gets better and that I don't fall over. I'm a little wobbly on the crutches when I have to have my leg hanging there. Wish me luck!!!

Turkey Party 07

Last night was the annual Turkey Party and I think good times were had by all. Bill smoked a delicious turkey this year and since I was seated most of the evening some of my lovely lady friends (not to be confused with lovely lady lumps) helped with all the side fixins! One of the most delicious items occurs prior to the meal. This would be Wendy's Wonderful Artichoke Dip. We like to call it "Stupid Dip" for short. This dip is soooooooo delicious and by the end of the evening, or sometimes just 30 minutes, you are lucky if there is any left. This stuff is like crack, or how addicting I imagine crack to be. You cannot eat just one scoop. Intrigued? Where here is the recipe so you can try it yourself. Rules are: you must say that it is Wonderful Wendy's recipe and you must refer to it as Stupid Dip!

1 can of artichoke hearts diced
1 cup of mayo
1 cup of Parmesan
1 brick of cream cheese soft
1 small can diced green chilies

Mix it all together and bake 350-400 degrees until hot and bubbly. Tastes delicious with tortilla chips.

Damn, Damn, Damn!

Well, I guess this post should be titled Nablopo-NO because I am officially a cheater. Although this is going to "say" that it was posted on Saturday I must confess that it was not. I missed the cut off. I wish I could give you a really good excuse about why I wasn't able to post, but my only excuse is a party. A party which I sat around at barking orders like Hitler. I realized last night at 2:00 am that I hadn't posted yet. So, I didn't make it! I will still continue to try and post each day for the rest of the month but I am officially titled a Nablopomo LOSER!

To bang or not to bang?

I'm thinking about cutting bangs. Not your wispy little bangs that you can push back, but serious bangs. I couldn't even tell you the last time I had them, probably in 8th grade! I really want to grow my hair but need something to jazz it up a bit. I usually do this with color, but I don't feel like changing the color too drastically right now. This is what I'm thinking....
What do you think? Bangs or no bangs?

I love commercials!

Actually I don't really like them, but occasionally a doosie comes along that just has to be shared. Bill and I were watching one of our favorite shows on Mojo "Three Sheets" and during the commercial break came the wonderful......GO Duster. I know you are wondering what the GO Duster is, but it really doesn't matter. What is epic is the blond with the slick moves dusting off her bookcases. Hilarious! I have to say though I'm a little disappointed that I could find the actual commercial that we saw. See, the actual commercial got even better because when it got to the buy now bonuses not only did you get the extra dusting attachments but you also got the (drumroll please) giant universal remote!! Sound familiar? You may have remembered a blog about this remote some time ago when I picked one up at Rite Aid. Unfortunately the only version online gives away free spray stuff...not as exciting. You can still enjoy the classy blond with the slick moves though.

Day 14 and I'm doing allright....

I'm 14 days into my no buying month and so far so good. Occasionally I have seen something really cute that I've wanted, like Krista's little gnome at the office today, but nothing has been overwhelmingly tempting. The worst is the days when I have nothing to do at lunch....really tempting to go wander. At the same time, I'm not wandering too well these days so that could help the temptation some. So far, aside from groceries, these are the things that I have purchased and the reason why I bought them.

1. The Cane: Still not using it and still questionable as to whether or not this really counts!!
2. Two Ski Masks: No, I'm not planning on robbing a bank! Girl on crutches would be a prime target in that scenario. Bill went fishing last weekend and was afraid that he and his dad would get really chilly while cruising down the river in the early am. They were $3 a piece and not for me so I don't think these count either.
3. Case of Yummy Dummy Candy Bars: I know what you are thinking, but these are not for me either!! Some of Bill's 2nd Cousins (all little girls) started a company selling delicious homemade candy bars. I thought this past weekend that we should sell these in the Java City cafes so I got a case to give to our retail guru. You should actually check them out for yourself, they are delish. http://www.yummy-dummy.com/

So, there you have it! Fourteen days and I haven't purchased one thing for myself. Not one trip into Target. Not one hasty purchase and then quick return. Now there are only 16 days to go....I'm still a little worried about not buying in Washington!!

And the name is.........

I've been hunting for a name for my vintage button ring company. I had some troubles coming up with anything on my own so I took a call for submissions to friends and family and FINALLY we have a winner!

The official name will be: Bouton Blue

Super cute, don't you think? I have the website purchased already and now I just need to get my little behind moving on getting more inventory made, taking pictures and getting it all together. I also have decided to branch out into other vintage button items....more on that later! A big thanks to Lisette who came up with the name idea!! Stayed tuned for more on Bouton Blue

Sweet Luck that I know her!!!

Becki is the coolest. For those that don't know her, I feel sorry for you. Not only is Becki the girl of many names, but she also ROCKS when it comes to design work. Am I in love with Becki? No, but I like to think I am her biggest fan!! Some of you may think...hmmmm I think I've heard of this Becki before. I'm sure you have because I ranted and raved about her when she designed my wedding invitations. Those that got one in the mail are already shaking your head in agreement and those that didn't, well now is your chance to own an RP design of your own. Becki's company, Sweet Luck Design is branching into holiday cards this year. I can guarantee you that I will be placing the first order!! These are a MUST to check out. Not only are they the cutest holiday photo cards I have ever seen....but I also made the samples. Check em out, you know that you want to order some of your very own!!!

Creeeeeepy!

Whenever I see an actor/actress that used to be on Deadwood I get excited. I really miss that show and loved some of the characters on it. Recently I've been seeing a preview for a movie called "Hitman." I just realized yesterday that the main character is Seth Bullock from Deadwood (Timothy Olyphant for those of you that want his real name.) I always loved Bullock, he really had that rugged sexy thing going on. That is not the case in "Hitman." I have come to realize that scary and bald does nothing for me!!

They keep pouring in!

Seems like everyday someone gives me more wedding photos. I'm so glad and lucky to have alot of friends and family that like to take pictures! Today my girlfriend Kim gave me her shots. She had a new kick-ass 35mm SLR digital camera that she was playing around with and boy did she do a great job! She put together an album for me which is so great because so far I've only seen pictures online. With that said I've added a ton of pictures to FLICKR. All the images that Kim took are just titled IMG so if you've looked before it will make them easier to spot.

Some of my favorites are the moustache shots! Ellen wanted to sport a stach since she was the bartender. I found some hilarious moustaches at Borders, they have alot more than books. Needless to say the moustaches were a hit.

Check out pictures!

Sorry that so many of the Flickr shots are horizontal! I tried to fix it but it just didn't work out.

STAY OUT OF THE OCEAN

That is my new motto! Got the phone call from the Dr. today and here's the damage: I have two meniscus tears, a partial tear of the ACL and (as if that wasn't enough) a dent in one of my leg bones. I was out of it at that point so I have no idea which bone it is.

What does that mean? No fucking idea! I am going to call first thing in the morning to get the first available Ortho Surgeon appt I can get and then we will know. I'm just assuming that three tears mean surgery but I don't know what the wait time is on that and I'm definitely no Dr. myself so I could be wrong.

There you have it! I really thought I wanted to "just know" what was wrong and thought that would make it all better but now I'm thinking I'd rather be in the dark. What I do know is this could turn out to be the most expensive honeymoon souvenier I got in Mexico!!!!

Sacramento Craft Mafia

Tonight I went to my first Sacramento Craft Mafia meeting. This is a group of local crafters that get together to try and help eachother support their goods. They help get boths set up and craft fairs and such. I'm hoping to really make a push forward with the rings so this is one of my first spots. Now I just have to get inspired to settle on a name, make business cards, make more rings, put rings on a website....yikes....there is alot to do!!

Reminisce!

Remember the good old days? Not the days that you had to go to school in three feet of snow on a bike with no tires or seat......we're not going that far back. I'm talking about the days of freebies. The days when a soda company would have a contest and you would know if you won immediately when you turned the lid off. It was either "You're a Winner" or "Please Try Again." What it didn't consist of was some obnoxious code that had to be entered on a website online, but before you can enter that code you must create an account with the website online. So, after five minutes wasted creating an account and logging in you finally discover....you are still a loser!

I want to go back to the good old days of instant gratification or let down. The days when you would dump out all the cereal in the box just to get the free toy inside. Do kids even know what a prize inside the cereal box is anymore?? Pretty soon we'll have to mail in UPC crap just to get a temporary tattoo from Cracker Jack. You know it's only a matter of time before they change their method as well.

Sexy

Bill and I have been carpooling to work since I have been placed on light duty. It's nice actually not having to drive. Today I saw a brilliant license plate frame. You know those little personalized frames for those people that have something to share with the world. We've all seen the "Spoiled Brat" frame and the "My Other Car is a Broomstick" but today I saw a new one that beats all others.

"I'm too sexy for my church."

What? Too sexy for my church? What does that even mean? The only picture I get is Pam Anderson in one of her lovely get-ups walking into church on Sunday. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the driver to determine if it was indeed a fact. On the other hand, it was a beat up old mini van. Could there really be someone that sexy in there??

Rapid hammering!

Yesterday I had my appointment to have an MRI done on my knee. I've had an MRI before so I knew what I was getting into. Luckily since it was on the knee I only had to go in feet first to my shoulders. I really had forgotten how damn loud those machines are! They give you ear plugs but you feel as if someone is hammering inside of the tube. I'd have to say though it was pretty uncomfortable for me this time. I had to put my leg pretty straight and it hasn't been in that position for two weeks now. The muscles in my thigh started to freak out and cramp up on me...it was awful! I should know the results in a couple days and am trying to be hopeful that it is just a sprain and no tears.

On another note, I have now been on crutches for two weeks. At times I've been using just one crutch on the side that is hurt. This made me think that maybe it would be better to get a cane. So, today, I took a little trip to Rite Aid and purchased myself a $14.99 metal cane. I guess this breaks my no buying clause for the month, but at the same time can it really count? I got no pleasure what so ever out of buying it. I came home and tried using it around the house. It is nice to not have something jammed under my armpit, but then I caught a glimpse in the mirror. It's amazing how a cane instantly adds 10 years to your age. I'm going back to the crutches!!

What has changed?

Immediately after saying "I do" people started asking if things had changed now that I am married. At the time things didn't seem any different. Now looking back three weeks here are the things that have changed since I got married...

1. I no longer have a dog.

2. I'm walking with the assistance of crutches

3. The car has been broken into.

I guess now I have to say yes, things are different now that I am married. The one thing that hasn't changed is no matter how bad things have gotten I have someone to share it with!!! Now, let's just hope things don't change too much more or I'm going to need therapy!
